CUSTOM WEDDING SET
OLD ERUO & ROSE CUT ETERNITY BAND
This set started with the kind of diamond we will probably never get tired of: an Old European cut. Big, chunky facets, a high crown, a small table and that softer, moodier sparkle that feels completely different from a modern brilliant.
Old European cuts became prominent in the late 1800s and early 1900s, as advances in diamond cutting made it possible to create a more consistently round stone. They were essentially the bridge between earlier antique cuts and the modern round brilliant we know today. Because these diamonds were cut in an era before modern precision cutting, their proportions and facet patterns have a personality of their own — less perfectly uniform, more character, and a beautiful broad flash of light instead of the tighter sparkle of a modern round.
Basically, old diamonds just hit different.
For the wedding band, we wanted something that felt like it had always belonged with the engagement ring, without simply repeating it. We sourced natural oval rose-cut diamonds and set them in our signature Rachel setting, creating a band with that same old-world feeling but an entirely different kind of sparkle.
Rose cuts are flatter and more understated than brilliant cuts, so rather than competing with the Old European center, they give off this soft, almost glassy shimmer. Next to those big antique facets, the combination is just really, really good.
The finished set is a mix of eras, cuts and textures that somehow feels like it has always existed together.
An old soul for the engagement ring. Rose cuts for the wedding band. Made to match, but never made to be too matchy.
